Niki D Therapy
Qualifications
I have an Honours degree (BSc) and a Masters (M.A) in existential psychotherapy.
Existential psychotherapy is a philosophical psychotherapy, part of the humanistic approach. It aims to help you find your own ways of coming to terms with previous and current difficulties in your life.
The emphasis is on people developing the skills to be self-reflective, take responsibility for their behaviour, increase understanding of their personal beliefs and values, aid psychological and emotional maturity and learn how to cope with the challenges of life more effectively, by accepting what cannot be changed and addressing what can be. This approach has a focus on relationships people have with themselves, others and life in general.
If you are interested in knowing more about this type of therapy you could read “Existential Counselling & Psychotherapy in Practice” by Emmy van Deurzen, second edition, 2002, Sage publishers.
To confirm my registration as a qualified psychotherapist you are welcome to contact my membership organisation, Universities Psychotherapy and Counselling Association (UPCA) on tel: 01507 610 746.
