Therapy for Therapists

therapy group for therapists

“We can’t be brave in this big world without at least one small space to work through our fears and falls.”

Many therapists no longer require individual therapy but may benefit from a therapeutic group experience with other therapists who understand the specific challenges of this shared career and what it means to be vulnerable and open with others in a supportive and challenging group environment.

From 2024 there will be two therapy groups for therapists:

In-person Therapy Group in my home practice in Dalston E8. Fortnightly for two hours on Wednesday 10am – 1pm.

Online Therapy Group on Zoom fortnightly for two hours on Monday 1pm - 3pm.

These groups are ongoing and follow academic terms. People can stay in the therapy group for years or leave after a term. I have found people get more from group therapy if they commit for a minimum of a year.

There are a maximum of 6 people in a group.

  • "I feel less alone as I listen to other people sharing similar experiences - different from individual therapy where you don’t have that sharing of experiences, that reciprocity."

  • "Group therapy members help me ‘see’ things differently which is so valuable."

  • "when I speak in group therapy the intensity of being listened to by multiple others can increase the significance of what I am saying and suddenly feel more emotionally powerful and important."

The group experience

It can be daunting to face a room of strangers all meeting with the intention of being open and available to consider how it is to relate and be related to. People with some shared experiences and some disparate ones. It takes courage and willingness to be outside of familiar comfort zones to take part in group therapy. It is this willingness to go beyond what is familiar that can yield such positive results.

Contact me so we can meet in person or over zoom and determine if this particular group would be suitable for you.

If it is and with your permission, I would then share your name with the group so that any possible dual relationship (client/therapist, supervisee/supervisor, colleague, ex-lover, friend) can be avoided.

Therapy Group for Therapists - Dates

In-person groups run fortnightly on Wednesday from 11am-1pm.

Online groups are held fortnightly on Monday from 1pm-3pm.
